**Neither Greater Prairie-Chicken nor Alpomado Falcon were on the official TBRC Review-list in 2003, but I felt that they were indeed in this category for purposes of my big year.  Greater Prairie-Chickens are only found at The Nature Conservancy's Texas City Prairie Preserve, side-by-side or perhaps mixed with captively-raised birds.  Alpomado Falcons occur in Texas (I saw one in 2003) but are the result of recent re-introduction programs in both the lower Rio Grande Valley and west Texas.  In 2003, I would not even try for the chickens and the Aplomado Falcon I encountered clearly had a band on its leg.**

**Additionally, there are three other birds - Passenger Pigeon, Carolina Parakeet, and Ivory-billed Woodpecker - that are on the official TBRC state list that I omitted above as they are clearly extinct or extirpated in the state of Texas.**
